PERSONAL CONNECTION TO JASON BRESNEHAN SONGWRITER AND PRODUCER
I wrote Autumn Trees for my Mum, Cheryl.
Mum has always loved autumn and has spent much of her life creating and caring for beautiful gardens. My own love of gardening comes directly from her. Some of my happiest memories involve watching the seasons move through Tasmanian gardens and seeing the lessons nature quietly teaches about patience, resilience and renewal.
More importantly, Mum has always been one of the most dependable people in my life. Through every season, good and bad, she has remained a constant source of support, encouragement and strength.
The lyric "I still stand tall — her autumn trees" sits at the emotional centre of the song. It reflects the belief that much of who we become grows from the people who invest in us, teach us and help us develop strong roots of our own.
The song is ultimately a thank you.
A thank you for the gardens.
A thank you for the lessons.
