Written and produced by Tasmanian Songwriter Jason Bresnehan, Baja Girls We're Not is an Avril Lavigne-inspired pop rock song featuring the recurring character Sophie and her friends Louisa, Maizee and Syd. Set against a Southern California backdrop, the song follows the girls as their boyfriends disappear into the Baja dunes on dirt bikes while the girls create an adventure of their own. Full of humour, attitude and friendship, the song celebrates the fact that fun comes in many forms and that nobody has a monopoly on adventure.
MUSICAL DIRECTION
Baja Girls We're Not is a high-energy female-fronted pop rock track inspired by the playful attitude and confidence of early Avril Lavigne. Driving guitars, upbeat drums, catchy hooks and a strong female vocal give the song its energy.
The verses move quickly with conversational storytelling, while the chorus lands with humour and confidence. The song never feels defensive. Instead, it feels playful and self-assured. THE ARTWORK

Baja Girls We're Not expands the Sophie universe and further develops her character. Sophie remains smart, confident and highly observant, but this time she appears in a lighter and more playful setting.
The song reflects Jason's observation that different groups often tell very different versions of the same story. The boys return from their weekend with tales of dirt bikes, dunes and adventure. The girls return with their own stories, their own experiences and a healthy scepticism about what was conveniently left out of the boys' version.
At its heart, the song celebrates friendship, confidence and the idea that people don't need to follow someone else's version of fun in order to have a great time. Like many Sophie songs, it is ultimately about strong, capable young women who are perfectly comfortable creating their own adventure.
