Bet on Eternity
I’ve been running from the quiet in my chest
Trying to fill the space with every kind of noise
But even in the dust and diesel of my days
Something kept on calling like a voice I couldn’t avoid
Place a bet on eternity
Place a bet on eternity
Place a bet on eternity
You’ve got nothing to lose
Find God, that’s the way to start the ride
Lean into your gifts, don’t let ‘em fade inside
Ignore the noise, let it fall like grain of sand
Live truth, keep it steady, take a chance, make a stand
Place a bet on eternity
Place a bet on eternity
Place a bet on eternity
You’ve got nothing to lose
I kept waiting for the sky to crack open
For a lightning bolt to tell me what to do
But nothing ever shifted till I moved my feet
Turns out the burning bush was always in the room
Place a bet on eternity
Place a bet on eternity
Place a bet on eternity
You’ve got nothing to lose
Don’t wait for a lightning bolt to set a bush burning
Move your heart, make a mark, it’s your life, you’re learning
The truth holds you close, it’s got a heart that’s yearning
Stand up, take a breath, let the fire be turning
Place a bet on eternity
Place a bet on eternity
Place a bet on eternity
You’ve got nothing to lose
Find God, don’t delay your walk of faith
Lean into your gifts, let them light your way
Ignore the noise, it’s a chorus that won't stay
Live truth, place a bet, and throw your doubts away
STORY BOARD
SONG OVERVIEW
Written and produced by Tasmanian Songwriter Jason Bresnehan, Bet on Eternity is a country rock anthem about purpose, faith and living life through the lens of eternity. Built around the repeated chorus line, "Place a bet on eternity, you've got nothing to lose", the song challenges listeners to consider what truly matters when life is viewed against the backdrop of forever.
Rather than focusing on death, the song focuses on life. It encourages people to find God, lean into their gifts, ignore unnecessary noise and pursue the purpose they were created to fulfil. The lyric combines practical wisdom, faith and action into a simple invitation: place your chips on eternity and live accordingly.
MUSICAL DIRECTION
Bet on Eternity is a country rock anthem driven by energy, optimism and conviction. The arrangement carries a strong sense of forward momentum, combining reflective verses with a chorus designed to be sung back by a crowd.
The song never feels heavy despite its subject matter. Instead, it feels liberating. The repeated refrain becomes both a declaration and an invitation, creating the feeling of somebody sharing a life-changing discovery rather than delivering a sermon. The overall mood is uplifting, purposeful and full of possibility.
THE ARTWORK
The artwork depicts a musician performing before a large audience while wearing a hat marked with the infinity symbol. The symbol serves as a visual representation of eternity, while the stage, lights and crowd represent earthly life, action and purpose.
The contrast between a temporary performance and an infinite symbol reinforces the central idea of the song. Life is brief, but the choices made within it may carry significance far beyond the present moment.
PERSONAL CONNECTION TO JASON BRESNEHAN SONGWRITER AND PRODUCER
Bet on Eternity emerged from a profound shift in Jason Bresnehan's thinking during alcohol recovery.
Like many people, Jason rarely thought about death outside funerals or moments of loss. Recovery changed that. Not because death became more frightening, but because eternity became more real. The more he reflected on the Christian promise of eternal life, the more earthly life began to appear as an incredibly small moment within a much larger story.
Rather than creating fear, this perspective created freedom. If human life is a brief moment measured against eternity, then many of the worries, distractions and opinions that dominate everyday life lose their power. The focus shifts towards purpose, faith, character and service.
The phrase "Place a bet on eternity" became Jason's way of describing that transformation. Like a gambler pushing all their chips onto a single number, the song suggests placing your confidence in the possibility that eternity is real. If eternity exists, everything changes. If it does not, very little is lost.
At its heart, Bet on Eternity is a song about perspective. It argues that when people view life through the lens of eternity, they often discover their purpose more clearly, appreciate life more deeply and become far less afraid of losing the things that never mattered in the first place.
