SONG OVERVIEW
This song, Steady Hands, was written by Tasmanian songwriter, author and consultant Jason Bresnehan and forms part of his Saints and Sinners series, a collection of twenty-seven original songs inspired by twenty-seven saints whose lives demonstrate overcoming and movement. The series is being developed into a companion book that combines song lyrics with concise saint biographies focused on each saint’s story, saintly movement and the obstacle they overcame.

Peter the Apostle, originally named Simon and identified in the Gospels as the son of John or Jonah, was born around the beginning of the first century in Bethsaida, a fishing village on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee. Jesus gave him the name Peter, meaning "rock". His saintly movement took place across Galilee, Judea and Rome, where he became a leader of the early Church. He died in Rome, and his resting place is traditionally recognised beneath St Peter's Basilica in Vatican City.
Peter began as a fisherman whose life changed when he followed Jesus. He witnessed miracles, travelled throughout the region and became one of Christ's closest disciples. Fear led him to deny Jesus before the crucifixion, yet he accepted forgiveness and continued moving forward. Peter’s movement shows that failure need not define a life. His saintly movement carried him from Galilee to Rome, helping establish a Church that remains the most influential Church today.
